Tony Garnier did not publish many books during his
life. He wrote two milestones: “An Industrial City,
Study for the Construction of a City”, published in 1917
and “Great Works of Lyon Municipality”, published
in 1920 with a preface by the incumbent Mayor, Edouard Herriot.
There are only a few books available on this great
architect. Among the best are Christophe Pawlowski's, “Tony
Garnier, Pionnier de l’urbanisme du XXe siècle
", published in 1993 by Les Créations du Pélican
(unfortunately out of print), “Tony Garnier, l’oeuvre
complete”, published by the Centre for Industrial Creation
on the occasion of the Tony Garnier exhibition organised by
“Centre Georges Pompidou” in 1990, and “Tony
Garnier” by Louis Piessat, who was one of his students.
Other books are available at our bookshop.
